Ascend Alliance has established an Enterprise Business Training Program and is partnering with several local institutions to provide help to struggling minority business owners in the Salt Lake area. Ascend’s business training program is a result of many years of experience. Current curriculum as outlined below has proven successful in Latin America, and was also implemented successfully in Salt Lake City in the Latino Community prior to being utilized in Latin America. We now wish to bring this program back to the place where it started and serve struggling businesses in our own community. Ascend’s Enterprise Training program is a mix of classroom instruction combined with onsite mentoring. Classroom instruction will be conducted at a central location over a 10-12 week period. Instructors include Ascend’s permanent field staff, along with interns, bankers, professionals, government facilitators, and other successful entrepreneurs. The curriculum consists of • 10 basic business principles • Individual and group study • Simplified Case Studies • Guest lecturers • Brief apprenticeships • Field trips to successful businesses • On-site mentoring • Graduation • Post-graduate evaluation, follow-up and participation
During and after the course, those involved in training, visit each enterpriser’s place of business to consult and mentor on ways to improve the business. This ensures that the principles taught in the classroom are applied in the business. All graduates have reported remarkable improvements in the sales and profits.
